From heroes to haunted humor

Hopefully this blog reflects a few moments of thought and enjoyment

Keep in mind that all our poetry is free to read, share and use

Where Did The Hero Go (poem)

They marveled in the glories of his show
And all the sacrifices he went through
Yet wonder now where did the hero go
-
To serve a land whose care he came to know
And with his life repay his country’s due
They marveled in the glories of his show
-
The things of youth he put aside in tow
Such sadness then from times and friends he knew
Yet wonder now where did the hero go
-
From foreign shores his legacy would grow
His medal could not trace what horrors drew
They marveled in the glories of his show
-
With time he would return to ones missed so
Who couldn’t see the wounds he did accrue
Yet wonder now where did the hero go
-
With time those wounds would bring on tears and woe
And not a soul to tell his story to
They marveled in the glories of his show
Yet wonder now where did the hero go

To go with this I've chosen: Joe Satriani's "The Forgotten" (plus I like Satrini)

And boo

A fan brought this viral video by CollegeHumor to my attention. And... (though dated) because of the Halloween festivities (and the video is funny) I've decided to share it with you. Barbie's (the doll) full name is Barbara Millicent Roberts. What that has to do with the New York based comedy site CollegeHumor, I don't know. I must have been thinking of a girl from my past. For those of you who want to find out more about CollegeHumor go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CollegeHumor.
The rest enjoy: "Horror Movie Daycare"

Thank you, Thank you, Thank You

The name change seems to have been a Great Idea

Let's see if working together we can grow this into something

I Had A Dream (poem)

I had a dream
A dream for two
A dream for me
A dream for you
-
And in this dream
This realm for two
Each fantasy
Had you in view
-
Each turn a whisper
Reminder kiss her
Tomorrow you may miss her
But for now
For now
-
I have this dream
Of loving you
And all I see
What heaven knew
-
This promised stream
Of holding you
This destiny
We’ll see it through
-
Each turn a whisper
Love her kiss her
The answer for all bliss her
But for now
This now
-
This gentle stream
For only two
A memory
We will renew
-
I had a dream
She had one too
Perhaps maybe
A wish come true
-
Each turn a whisper
Recurring kiss there
Tomorrow’s mist abyss there
But for now
Our now
We’ll stay in this dream somehow
-
I had a dream
A dream for two
A dream for me
A dream for you

To go with this I have chosen the Marvin Gaye version of "Fly Me To The Moon"

Plus

To celebrate the launch of BBC Music the Beach Boys' masterpiece "God Only Knows" was remade with the help of a few friends: 1. Dave Grohl / 2. Alison Balsom / 3. Lorde / 4. Pharrell Williams / 5. Zane Lowe / 6. Sam Smith / 7. Paloma Faith / 8. Eliza Carthy / 9. Nicola Benedetti / 10. Chris Martin / 11. Jaz Dhami / 12. Martin James Bartlett / 13. Danielle de Niese / 14. Stevie Wonder / 15. Florence Welch / 16. Lauren Laverne / 17. Brian Wilson / 18. Jake Bugg / 19. Katie Derham / 20. Gareth Malone / 21. Kylie Minogue / 22. Chrissie Hynde / 23. One Direction / 24. Emeli Sandé / 25. Elton John / 26. Baaba Maal / 27. Ethan Johns / 28. Jools Holland / 29. Jamie Cullum / 30. Brian May / 31. Tees Valley Youth Choir / 32. BBC Concert Orchestra. It is just crossing over 5,000,000 views. All this is pretty impressive. But not as impessive as the fact that termites have been known to eat food twice as fast when heavy metal music is playing.
But here for your entertainment is: "God Only Knows - BBC Music"

How about a time out to laugh

Oh yes, the poetry (if we call it that) continues

Plus this gives us jokesters a chance to prove something

Running Is Not For Me (limerick)

At running I didn’t have knack
For I thought I’d have heart attack
So in rest I’d stir
My fitness defer
And give woman her wallet back

He Finally Became Perfect (limerick)

He put all his cheating aside
She now knows where husband does hide
No more does he cuss
Or cause a big fuss
Now that her darn husband had died

People ask me if I have completely lost my mind. This videos should put that to rest.

And

The sentence “Pack my box with five dozen liquor jugs” uses every letter of the alphabet and uses the least letters to do so. And when you put your tongue back into your head here is today's viral video.
For your approval: "Dear Kitten: Regarding The Dog"

Yes, we went for the name change that was called for

I hope you like it as much as this tale of love

Sit back, turn up the song and enjoy

The Shell (poem)

It happened on a distant friendly shore
A moonlit wave had washed a conch aside
The sands of time a bed for shell and more
As dawn awoke the glistening of tide
-
And there she was to wonder at the sight
A maiden fare her beauty lost to tears
For in the twinkle hopes and dreams ignite
Of lover who went missing seems like years
-
He is a soldier in a distant land
But where it’s strange that no one seems to know
Was this the future that their fate had planned
Her prayers and sparkling ocean told her no
-
It’s then amid the sand she found the shell
She hoped to hear the sea’s familiar tune
Instead she heard a voice she knew so well
Who promised her that he will be home soon

"Song Of The Seas" by Vangelis

Now to completely wreck the mood

I am a Jimmy Fallon fan. With his latest video going wildly viral I would be letting myself down if I didn't share it. But first, did you know scientists have concluded celery has negative calories? It takes more calories to eat a piece of celery than the celery has in it. Now take that to your professor.
In the mean time here's Jimmy Fallon and rapper, singer-songwriter will.i.am in: "Jimmy Fallon feat. will.i.am - Ew!"

Another break from the rhyming

Or maybe just a sonnet in disguise

Plus a viral video made just for me

Life Familiar Gone (poem)

Sit down upon a minute wonder why
The world abounds so different today
What dream of hope casts rainbows in the sky
I wonder will I ever be the same
-
I drift in clouds and magic is her name
As to her song my heart is taught to dance
She is the sun which promises the dawn
And sets me on this pathway of romance
-
Confused I kiss a life familiar gone
No words can air the Joy I wander through
Or meanings reasons all which I have found
In ever after here within my view
-
Sit down a minute timelessness abound
As ways of love and her take me away

I got lucky to run into this video which works well with the poem. "Tristesse" by Chopin

But to worlds more important

This viral video has everything going for it. It has ninjas. It has suspense. It stars Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson). And, to top it all off, it is a commercial for Snickers! Did you know that in 1930 the Mars Company introduced Snickers, named after the favorite horse of the Mars family. The bar was marketed under the name "Marathon" in the UK and Ireland until July 19, 1990, when Mars decided to align the UK product with the global Snickers name. Mars had marketed and discontinued an unrelated bar named Marathon in the United States during the 1970s. Yes, Snickers needs no advertising for me.

Woopee!

Not just a cushion... I made week 4

The weird experiment continues and I thank you for your support

Can There Be Rainbows (poem)

Can there be rainbows if you are not there
The scent of flowers toying with the air
My sunlight promise warming heart with flare
These questions far from your side I must bear
-
Until there comes again some summer’s day
And we again enjoy our youthful play
In love we’ll find our shelter from dismay
I’m sorry that I had to go away
-
My country called and sent my running there
To aid and serve her what part could I play
My pride and honor washed away dismay
As war and leaving you I had to bear
-
What-ever passed to eat another day
Confusion was the flowers in the air
And home’s reminders where our hoped for flare
Your heart and mind are never far away
-
Now cold of lonely lookout I must bear
Above me sounds of dying men now flare
The scent of mass destruction steals the air
Can there be rainbows if you are not there

To go with this poem I've chosen: "Th End" by The Doors from Apocalypse Now

And

Did you know in 1923, jockey Frank Hayes won a race at Belmont Park in New York despite being dead? He suffered a heart attack mid-race, but his body stayed in the saddle until his horse crossed the line for a 20–1 outsider victory. This has nothing to do with the attached video. I just thought you would find it interesting.
Now for today's viral video here's: "Stop-Motion Parkour".

What you got up your sleeves today?

What have you noticed missing?

(cough, cough) I meant about this blog (cough, cough)

Butterfly Carry My Tears (poem)

Oh butterfly won’t you carry my tears
To valley were dreams await to come true
And grant a flower this blessing of dew
A kiss of rainbow as sunshine appears
-
Float in the luster of legend of stars
Let your wings feel what eyes cannot see
And learn why my heart there always will be
In splendors of moments magic of ours
-
A cold bitter season took her away
And left me to ponder rivers of time
Grasping at answers which I cannot climb
But one lasting Joy I shall not betray
-
So butterfly dancing mid the sky
Please take my love these gems of times past by

Here is a romantic dance video which blends nicely with this sonnet. "Santiago's Dream" with Santiago Hernandez and Isabelle Rune, danced to "Otra Luna" by Carlos Libedinsky.

Not over yet

One of my favorite viral videos. Not just because of the song: "One Day" by Matisyahu. This video "Life Vest Inside - Kindness Boomerang - One Day" was put together for and by Life Vest Inside. It tracks an act of kindness as its passed from one individual to the next and manages to boomerang back to the person who set it into motion. I think this video strikes home with me because of my positive experiences working with people in my various charity endeavors. I asked people for an inch and return their miles.
I hope you enjoy and pass on this video. If you want to find out more about Life Vest Inside visit: http://www.lifevestinside.com/
