The Proud Tree to What If Batman Was From Chennai

One legend deals with pride

Another legend deals with culture

The Proud Tree (Shakespearean sonnet)

Once in a grassy glade stood tree so proud
The grass grew tall beside the mighty tree
With every passing breeze the grass there bowed
But tree stood tall and firm as it could be
-
One day the tree did ask it friend the grass
Why is it that you greet each breeze this way
You bow to every stranger that comes pass
But for its answer grass gave gentle sway
-
A wind a storm just happened on their field
The grass just bowed as it had times before
And as before the tree just couldn’t yield
So angered wind tossed tree upon the floor
-
And as the once proud tree now slowly died
It watched the grass there bowing by its side

(I constructed this sonnet from a story told by my high school teacher Mr. Fred Wilkens.)

To go with this sonnet I've chosen: Secret Garden "Elegie"

And with a laugh or two added

Over the years many big names in Hollywood have played Batman. Yet few remember Kevin Conroy. His voice was used for batman's TV cartoon series and video games for 12 years (total). Even fewer have heard of Put Chutney. Put Chutney is a Chennai, India YouTuber with Culture Machine, an international production company. He has brought batman to India. Even more, he has infused his batman with the struggles of Chennai's middle class families, who fight to preserve their values. Maye these families fight against batman.
This video was originally 3 hours long, but we have removed all musical products (joke). "What If Batman Was From Chennai? | Put Chutney"

Forever’s Walls to Asian Gangsters - Chinese vs Vietnamese

A lover's madness bars him to forever

Members of Asian gangs face off to a madness that prevents them from seeing a truth

Forever’s Walls (round)

Within these walls is buried there
A secret much too harsh to bear
A dream which passed another day
Which turned into this fate we share
-
My heaven was this hideaway
Where every Joy was free to play
Each promised day would bring something new
And wonders came in vast array
-
Each scent was a moment so true
A paradise where fancies flew
Where hearts of young lovers roamed free
In fields covered with flowers’ dew
-
Then strange feeling fell upon me
Its grip gave no haven to flee
Its kiss brought me into its night
And swim amid pain’s jealousy
-
Soon reasons would quickly ignite
Warm hugs were replaced by a fight
Our garden now knew only rain
Till my hands would clutch her too tight
-
And here as myself I regain
Adrift in forever’s refrain
As heartbeats from walls once more blare
From madness too wretched to explain

(As if you weren't confused enough. There is a reason this poem is written as a round. Notice how the last stanza ties in with the first.)

I was really lucky to stumble into this video: Kid Cudi "Trapped in my Mind"

Gangster up

"Street Gang: The Complete History of Sesame Street" is a non-fiction book chronicling the history of the children's television program, Sesame Street. Just thought I'd get that out of the way. Meanwhile, John Luc (Mychonny) gives us a behind the scene look at Melbourne, Australia's growing Asian gang problem. John is a young Australian YouTuber. He makes 'Asianese' videos of himself, friends and family. In this video, John risks far more than life and limb as a feared Vietnamese gang come face to face with their merciless Chinese rivals.
What makes this video particularly dangerous for John (other than the ending); he is Viet/Chinese. "Asian Gangsters - Chinese vs Vietnamese"

The Magic Pair to Drive Thru Vanishing Food

What is the magic shared by two lovers

What is the magic that livens up some drive thru employees' night

The Magic Pair (English sonnet)

To see this pair would lead one’s heart astray
They truly lit the magic in the air
The wonder of spring’s flowers blossomed there
Igniting dreams once lost to yesterday
-
Fresh mornings were ignited by this pair
A dawn where kisses freely held the sway
And thoughts of love engaged a gentle play
All this and more was lit by couple’s flare
-
But somewhere in the middle of some night
A tragedy so jealous struck this bliss
And swept this couple to a lifeless shore
-
Yet to this darkness came a rainbow’s light
Instead of tears young couples chose to kiss
And in their love the pair was born once more

I may be giving away my age with this one: Louis Armstrong "A Kiss to Build a Dream On"

Plus

Illusionist David Copperfield holds the record when on April 8, 1983 he made the Statue Of Liberty disappear. A little less ambitious, magician and prankster Rahat Hossain (MagicofRahat) only makes fast food vanish from a bag. No, he doesn't eat it. What starts out as another smart-alack customer, turns into amazement filled laughter. What starts out as another boring evening at work transforms into a memory and an entertaining video.
One thing that remains unanswered. Did Rahat have to pay for his meals? "Drive Thru Vanishing Food"

I’ll Teach You to Dream to Choose Beautiful

An invitation to a doorway of dreams

An understanding why some choose a lesser door

I’ll Teach You To Dream (villanelle)

I’ll teach you to dream if you’ll take my hand
Together we’ll see a realm out of sight
Where all that might be is ours to command
-
It’s time that we free what few understand
A slumbering flame that yearns for the light
I’ll teach you to dream if you’ll take my hand
-
Why drift through a world which others have planned
When we hold the key to all our delight
Where all that might be is ours to command
-
No more tomorrows our hopes to disband
Imagined unreal await to take flight
I’ll teach you to dream if you’ll take my hand
-
Endless excuses so gently remand
Here some unknown fear protects us from fright
Where all that might be is ours to command
-
Here is your moment to sit or to stand
To sit in comfort or worlds to ignite
I’ll teach you to dream if you’ll take my hand
Where all that might be is ours to command

When it comes to dreams, this scene from "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" comes to mind: Gene Wilder "Pure Imagination"

Gorillas are often embarrassed by their own reflection in mirrors. Dove, the personal care brand owned by Unilever, did not study gorillas, but rather humans. More specifically, they studied women. With no barriers or explanations before them, women approaching a building were left with only their own impressions and perceptions to guide their decision. These were women in different countries. Before them were doorways marked "average" and "beautiful".
Find out which they chose and why. "Dove Choose Beautiful | Women all over the world make a choice"

Can There Be Rainbows to USAF Honor Guard

Follow the thoughts of a hero at war

Then learn a shocking secret of the USAF Honor Guard

Can There Be Rainbows (Martin verse)

Can there be rainbows if you are not there
The scent of flowers toying with the air
My sunlight promise warming heart with flare
These questions far from your side I must bear
-
Until there comes again some summer’s day
And we again enjoy our youthful play
In love we’ll find our shelter from dismay
I’m sorry that I had to go away
-
My country called and sent my running there
To aid and serve her what part could I play
My pride and honor washed away dismay
As war and leaving you I had to bear
-
What-ever passed to eat another day
Confusion was the flowers in the air
And home’s reminders where our hoped for flare
Your heart and mind are never far away
-
Now cold of lonely lookout I must bear
Above me sounds of dying men now flare
The scent of mass destruction steals the air
Can there be rainbows if you are not there

In keeping with the mood: The Doors "The End"

Are you ready

The "SEAL", in Navy SEAL, SEAL stands for Sea, Air and Land. But, we will not be talking about Navy SEALs, rather the Air Force Honor Guard. "I am a proud member of the United States Air Force Honor Guard. My standards of conduct and high level of professionalism place me above all others in my service. I have earned the right to wear the ceremonial uniform, one which is honored in a rich tradition and history. I am superbly conditioned to perfect all movements throughout every drill and ceremony. The level in which I perform will never be dictated by the type of ceremony, the severity of the temperature, nor the size of the crowd. I am constantly driven to excel by a strong sense of dedication that runs deeper than patriotism. While on ceremonies, I stand sharp and crisp, motionless by choice, for I have voluntarily chosen to represent every member past and present of the United States Air Force. I am a Ceremonial Guardsman." - The USAF Honor Guard creed.
Keep the creed in mind as you watch this actual training video, which according to the Huffington Post is again going viral. "USAF Honor Guard - Rubber Chicken Bearing Test"
(It is not my intention to put down anyone who serves this country)

Bemused He Sits to Game of Chairs

Something went wrong with a lover and his song

Some things replaced laughs with a popular TV drama

Bemused He Sits (backward Shakespearean sonnet)

Bemused he sits and wonders all alone
Refused the reason that it came to this
-
Entwined in bitter words had made him blind
Forlorn the heart which gave such mischief birth
Consigned to bear the weight of this mistake
Reborn the sweetness of their memories
-
Recall the echoes of the moments shared
Beside the dreams they made along the way
Enthrall each whisper flowing from those eyes
Applied in making time itself their slave
-
Aglow was promised sky the day they met
Unreal this treasure which was heaven sent
Although unsure what future laid ahead
Ideal had its beginning with a kiss

(If you look closely, you will see this is a sonnet written backwards. Even the rhymes are in the front. Could the story line also b backwards?)

To add to the confusion: Luther Vandross "A House Is Not A Home"

Madness with that?

In 2012, more than 150 babies were named “Khaleesi”, a character in "Game Of Thrones". Which may help to explain why the children snow "Sesame Street' did a parody called "Game of Chairs". Starring lookalikes for Cersei Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen, Joffrey Lannister, Ned Stark and introducing Grover Bluejoy, the skit puts aside the swords aside and put fate, and the ruler of Jesteros, directly on the thrones. Though the skit replaces violence with cuteness and laughter (and math), there remains an element of mystery (like the lady with a dragon).
Who will meet the challenge of the thrones (chairs) and rule as king? "Sesame Street: Game of Chairs (Game of Thrones Parody)"

A Smile Was All to Operation: Save The Date

One bride pays a price for wedding her dream

While another bride sets her wedding memories quite different

A Smile Was All (Martin verse)

A smile was all which she had brought
To capture heart which she had sought
And to this all her soul was caught
And to this all was every thought
-
This dream come true her journey’s end
The one who would her journeys tend
To win his love her hopes ascend
To win his love and worlds transcend
-
Then to her smile his gaze was brought
For her attention he did tend
With his attention dreams ascend
Her Joy became his only thought
-
He vowed to love her till the end
And to this end her hand he sought
But to this end her fate was caught
Another dream she must transcend
-
For her to win his every thought
She made a deal and soul was caught
To every end which she had sought
A smile was all which she had brought

I don't know why, but I chose this song to go with this poem: The Rolling Stones
"Sympathy For The Devil"

From a tear to a smile

Some believe diamonds were chosen for wedding rings not for their value, but their strength. It is believed lovers once used them to scribble their devotion on everything. Speaking of change, meet Kelly and Tyler. This couple just took wedding pictures to the next level with their YouTube video. The thugs, you will soon be introduced to, are actually the couple's wedding party. The entire scene was set in San Francisco and what you will witness was shot months ahead of the actual happy event. It will take a while for the wedding party to recover from the explosion.
Let us wish Kelly and Tyler our warmest regards, as we enjoy "Operation: Save The Date"
