The Phone Was Ringing to Look at Your Phone

A relationship changed and the only clue was a mysterious ringing phone

The world has changed thanks (?) to the power of the phone

The Phone Was Ringing (transforming poem)

The phone was ringing on the day they kissed
A shining sun had followed morning mist
And dreams of after madly still persist
What special something was the scent she missed
-
Sweet melodies of love she did enlist
Reminder of what heartbeats now consist
As feelings ran beyond what words could say
She never knew before such things exist
-
There was so much of truth she did resist
The winds of spring felt softer in this way
She hid aside the blossoms of decay
For her they were but passing seasons’ gist
-
But as he left her life took on a twist
A note a cloud a shadow to her day
The answer to those mornings of dismay
The truth which she resisted was not play
-
Was then her flow of tears would turn world grey
How could a love so faithful one betray
Was clear within this life she could not stay
The phone was ringing when she went away

To go with this poem, we offer Oceanflower1's rendition of "If you go away"

While I'm on the phone, go ahead

Revolving doors were first invented as a way to keep horses out of department stores. If you believe that, you may also believe Americans can now live without their cell phones. Which (somehow) brings us to Todd Womack. of Brooklyn, New York. Todd is a member of Barely Political, a large and popular YouTube channel. Todd, himself, could not sell his important message about the cell phone, so he dawned his Pitbull persona to help him. And while he is playing Pitbull, he might as well dawn "the rap" (or loose , very loose, impression of it) to get his important message across.
Okay, maybe Todd's message was more silly, than important, but it all ends well (for those who don't appreciate Todd's imitation of Pitbull or don't like Pitbull, himself). "Look at Your Phone! - Key of Awesome #97"

The Boy And The Stream to Something Contagious On The Subway

A boy meets life

A contagion streams on a subway car proving we are human after all

The Boy And The Stream (poem)

They met when they were both quite young
When destiny was still unsung
-
Then they awoke to youthful dream
This boy who ran across a stream
And waters joined to form a seam
-
And as they grew they shared their view
With each discovery a new
Exciting secret shared by two
What wonderment did they pass through
-
Then others came to join them there
Some flowers mingled with the air
And so much more with which to share
Reminders that they still do care
Are leaves that fall from everywhere
-
As one by one the flowers die
Their past is falling from the sky
Each teardrop just another why
But time can offer no reply
The friend he knew had fallen dry
There’s nothing left to feel him cry
-
He wanders through his memory
Searching how this came to be
The price of destiny
And it heard his plea
Whispered it’s me
Now I’m free
The sea

To drift with this poem I've selected: Karla Bonoff "The Water is Wide"

Witness the truth

It is believed that frequent and whole-hearted laughter can actually help one's body fight off colds and harmful diseases. I'm sure you've heard the expression, "laughter is contagious." Well, this lady gets on a subway car and starts laughing. No one but her and the person shooting this video know why. Soon others join in laughing. Some try to maintain their self control, but fail. One lady flees the outbreak of silliness. What is going on?
Even wilder, I found myself joining the laughter. " Finally, Something Contagious On The Subway You Won’t Mind Catching"
(We are all human after all)

The Little Rose to Music Montage of Babies

A lover's dream becomes a timeless memory

Sweet memories become timeless laughter

The Little Rose (Shakespearean sonnet)

The night had ended for this little rose
This simple token of a poor boy’s heart
It was his gift to bless the evening’s start
Yet few would know the depth this poor boy chose
-
He grew this flower knowing of this night
And through its days they shared the dream he planned
The rose she wore was crafted by his hand
To share a wondrous moments of delight
-
Now there it lay the final kiss had passed
Was this the final purpose of its life
And if he knew he too would feel the knife
Had love like rose now truly seen the last
-
Into a memory a lasting look
She placed the rose inside a special book

A song I sang back in memory's dreams: Michael Praetorius "Lo, How A Rose E'er Blooming"

From love to laughs

The history of movies began as early as the 1890s. How far we have come since then. I remember talking to my girlfriend on a phone attached to the kitchen wall and then tripping over. Partly because I was in love, but mostly because I managed to wrap the chord around my feet. Now, our phones are free from chords and shoot our movies for us. They are so convenient, we can capture precious memories, like our baby's adorable and funny moments. America's Funniest Home Videos has put together a montage of 2014's funniest baby videos.
Boy, did I go off to get to this funny video, which hasn't gone viral (yet), but all of its parts have. "AFV Music Montage: Babies"

The Flesh to Tosh Is Better Than You - No-Look Throws

What madness seized the flesh that night

Is it the same madness that seized Tosh's brain as he tries to better No-Look guy

The Flesh (Shakespearean sonnet)

What is the flesh which greets the evening’s dawn
It’s creeping ever seeking long ago
When its own sense of purpose it did know
Instead of other’s souls to feed upon
-
It lurks in shadows cursing what may come
It’s weeping reason steeping its own cost
For its doomed breath another’s love is lost
What pain and sorrow breeds a heart so numb
-
Oh night’s delight just one more victim sings
It’s seething echoes breading mercy dies
As crimson draws his tears across the skies
And only silent sadness felt the stings
-
What is this flesh which meets the edge of light
A dream perhaps some madness hid from sight

The cherry for this nightmarish drink is: Buxtehude "Prelude in G minor"

Laugh time

Of all the words in the English language, the word "set" has the most definitions. As "amazing" as that useless fact is, it doesn't top Josh, of hijosh, and his backward (no-look) throwing skills. Well, Tosh.0 is not impressed. Tosh.0 (Daniel Tosh) for those unfamiliar, is a television host for Comedy Central, who provides humorous commentary on online video clips, society, celebrities, and other parts of popular culture and stereotypes. Tosh.0 wanted to show the world that Josh is not that special, or maybe he was just seizing the opportunity for a good laugh.
Spoiler alert! The nude man is not really naked. If you watch closely, you will catch a glimpse of the shorts he is wearing. Sorry. "Tosh.0 - Tosh Is Better Than You - No-Look Throws"

Soft Moments to Every Instagram Ever

Lovers' memories were molded in a dance

Modern moments are molded in a madness called Instagram

Soft Moments (villanelle)

Soft were those moments I would drift with you
You took my hand to change our destiny
And in that dance we sparked a dream come true
-
You taught me steps to see those rough times through
Yet as I stumbled oft my heart told me
Soft were those moments I would drift with you
-
You guided me to see a world anew
Those hours spent to mold those two called we
And in that dance we sparked a dream come true
-
There in the dawn of moonlight’s special hue
Our mist was drawn that all the world could see
Soft were those moments I would drift with you
-
But jealous eyes weren’t happy with our view
They wanted things just like they used to be
And in that dance we sparked a dream come true
-
Sweet as the flowers blessed by lovers’ dew
Were those who shared this special memory
Soft were those moments I would drift with you
And in that dance we sparked a dream come true

It took Arlene 6 years to teach me to dance. When I finally woke up, we were pretty good. Not as good as these two. Our favorite dance was the Cha Cha Cha. Here are Michael Malitowski & Joanne Leunis, 2008 Latin dance superstars, demonstrating the Cha Cha Cha to Lionel Hampton "Psychedelic Sally".

One more moment

It was estimated that 5 million videos were transmitted over Instagram in the first 24 hours of its introduction. Join Ian, Anthony, Keith, Noah, and Olivia (the team of Smosh) as they poke a little, harmless fun at the stereotypical users of this growing social media outlet. If you are a fan if Instagram, don't be too surprised if you've seen people before (and before, and before, and...).
This edition is NOT available on Instagram. (Yet) "EVERY INSTAGRAM EVER"

Make A Wish to Slow Granny Drives Drivers Crazy

If you wished for ridiculousness and laughs

Then call me a psychic or psycho or a cab

Nature’s Gift (limerick)

A bird on my palm it did land
Sometimes nature can be so grand
How could I be miffed
At something I sniffed
The bird left “fowl” gift in my hand

Make A Wish (limerick)

A wife wishing at wishing well
When down the well her husband fell
Insults he was dishing
As she heard him swishing
But boy did her wishing work swell

One Way To Remember (limerick)

A day that he never forgot
The date that two tied the knot
For by afternoon
The flowers then strewn
Would be near his funeral plot

(Remember, I write my limericks to get 6 rhymes in 5 lines. Follow the beats on lines 3, 4 and 5, to discover the extra rhyme.)

If you have never heard a patter song are you in for a treat.
Gilbert and Sullivan "So It Really Doesn't Matter"

And if that wasn't ridiculous enough

Research suggests that laziness is just a natural part of being a teenager and doesn't reflect bad behavior. So tell my wife, I'm young at heart. At the other end of the spectrum, we have this little old lady approaching a crossing (some day). Out jumps a traffic crossing guard, to do his job. The rest is a challenge,,, A challenge not to laugh. It is again Canada's Just For Laughs up to their antics.
But the Gag has an unexpected ending. "Slow Granny Drives Drivers Crazy"

Moment Written In The Sky to Dear Graduates

Lovers write a message across forever's sky

A kid assures us of a message we carry in our heart

Moment Written In The Sky (Shakespearean sonnet)

The moonlight wrote this moment in the sky
To drift amid the memories of stars
So wonders cast in ever can’t deny
There never was a love affair like ours
-
For in our ways what splendors would ignite
As magic thrilled each heartbeat which we passed
Was in warm stares the meaning of delight
And endless ever made surrender last
-
Some search forever for one wish to find
One breath of gentle secret midst our air
One scent of glory Joy has left behind
Or message which the stars in heaven bear
-
To help the moonlight tell tomorrows this
Let’s show forever how true lovers kiss

To go with this kiss, here's KoolSax "Beyond the Sunset"

After you finish kissing

Wearing academic graduation robes, so they say, is a tradition that dates back to at least the 12th century, around the time when the first universities were being founded in Europe. Now-a-days these "academic" cape and gowns are even worn at preschool advancements. Robby Novak (aka Kid President) is hardly a preschooler, but he is quite young. His message, though, is quite ageless. As I watched Robby, I was taken back to 7th grade and Johnny Land. Mr. Land was a teacher who taught all things were possible. I was blessed with many great and imaginative teachers, who nourished a truth that was in my heart. As life went on, other teachers and reminders came along. Sometimes at funny, unexpected and/or much needed moments. Here I am, an aged man and Robby dances on my computer, to remind of the song beating in my heart.
Is something awakened in your heart, as you enjoy: "Dear Graduates - A Message From Kid President"
(Amazing)
