Walk To School to Adultz Bops

A couple's walk to school becomes ageless and cute

But when parents get-a-hold of today's songs the cool turns ridiculous

Walk To School (changing poem)

The summer warmed the air once more
When he knocked on familiar door
And there she was the dream he bore
To walk to school as times before
-
So beautiful the smiles they wore
They made all hearts who saw them soar
Such memories would they unfold
In others who had touched their shore
-
Again to her his all he swore
As he offered hand to hold
In their minds were worlds untold
And each another kiss restore
-
Some voices from dark windows scold
Keep your affairs at home they tolled
Unknowingly such Joys they mold
In couple who now clouds explore
-
Such fantasies these two enrolled
Each wish and hope their dreams controlled
Their flame of love could not grow cold
Though time and years had made them old

(When we reach the end of this poem, we learn why I used this form of poetry. More than the rhyme changed. It is important to keep in mind: When I was a teenager, kissing in public was frowned upon. - Except for summer school, I never walked Arlene to school. My school let out earlier than Arlene's, plus Arlene was heavily into school sports, which made it easy to walk her home. We'd occasionally stop at a hamburger joint (Hamburger Haven) or an ice cream shop (Golden Rainbow) on the way to Arlene's house. We kept this tradition up even after Arlene graduated, though nowhere near as often. It was sad when Hamburger Haven closed. But for those moments, Arlene and I were ageless. We were all those times we retraced in those steps. The ice cream shop also closed. But Arlene and I had our memories.)

The Beatles were popular at the time, but this song seemed more fitting:
The Penguins "Earth Angel"

Have I grown this old

Chuck Berry is credited for inventing rock and roll' in 1955. There is apparently evidence that this form of music was being performed by other artists as early as the 1940's. Considering the nature of rock and roll, it's all good.  For those unfamiliar: Kidz Bop is a brand of compilation albums featuring kids performing contemporary popular songs. The series was developed by Cliff Chenfeld and Craig Balsam in September 2000. This is all well and good. Now the folks at Loose Silverware have put together a series called Adultz Bop,  a brand of compilation albums featuring parents performing contemporary popular songs, with the lyrics altered to fit parental sensitivities. This is all...
There is apparently evidence that Loose Silverware is being paid not to put together any more of their "What-Ever". Kids have even promised to do their homework. "Adultz Bop!"

Moment Of Truth to Lost in L.A.

A selection of silly limericks

Leads to an even sillier prank

How My Son Got His Name (limerick)

My wife said let’s pick name today
For baby that’s soon on its way
I thought of that night
Of passion’s delight
But Oops wasn’t right thing to say

Moment Of Truth (limerick)

My friends threw a bachelor’s spree
They even hired striper for me
To drinks I did fly
As truth caught my eye
The stripper was my bride to be

Dress Shopping Tip For Men (limerick)

For men who don’t need added stress
If wife asks your help choosing dress
If you like the sun
And bickering shun
Don’t ask her which one will cost less

(More of my 6/5 limericks. Follow the beats on lines 3, 4 and 5 to find the 6th rhyme. You might notice I am often the brunt of my jokes. I do this to counteract any misunderstandings which may occur while I'm joking. - While we're on the subject of misunderstandings: Freemasonry is not a secret organisation. It s an organisation with some secrets. Those secrets are our handshakes, modes of recognition and a few words. All of these can be found on the internet and are now available to everyone; as long as I am not the one who reveals these "secrets". Why am I discussing Freemasonry with limerick? Here it goes. One of the reasons for the secrets is: From the beginning of Masonry, men were recognized as "blabber months". The secrets are meant to train men to mind his tongue.  Don't misunderstand me. Freemasons do a lot of good things for society,)

This song and video seems to work well in this edition: Coldplay "Paradise"

Got room for one more laugh

The real name of Los Angeles, established in 1781, is El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles del Río de Porciúncula (The Town of Our Lady the Queen of the Angels on of the River Porciúncula). No wonder people oft get lost there. Pranksters and comedians Greg Benson and Miles Grose, of Mediocre Films, decide to pretend to search for each other over the phone while standing on opposite sides of victims, who soon find themselves lost in confusion.
This prank is a lot of fun to do yourself. "Lost in L.A. Prank"

Let’s Smile Awhile to Happiness Finds Grumpy Cat

Lovers smile in the reason for their love

Happiness searches to put a smile on Grumpy Cat

Let’s Smile Awhile (Shakespearean sonnet)

Let’s smile awhile and let our worries stray
Let’s settle in the arms of Joy and love
It’s here we’ll find the reason for the day
It’s where we share what heaven is made of
-
Let’s free a kiss to find out where it leads
Let’s free our dreams if only for this while
It’s here we’ll find a freedom from all creeds
It’s where our love is nested in a smile
-
Tomorrow’s tears must find some place to hide
Some place the glow of love won’t put them out
Won’t put won’t hide our reasoning aside
Reasoning that a smile can conquer doubt
-
Let’s smile awhile and settle in what’s true
It’s here we’ll find the reason I love you

(Here is a real tight sonnet, In the first two stanzas the "Let's" and "It's" are clearly placed; the suggestions and reasons. They disappear in the "conflict" stanza, to re-appear in the rhyming couplet. As tightly written as this sonnet is, it has a playful nature that sets it free. - Just before Arlene and I decided on a family our careers and relationship was pretty intense. Ever heard the story about the man who carried the heavy rock? People asked him why he did it. "Because it felt so good when I put it down," As good as the many times Arlene and I left this world, for the paradise of lovers. It could be as simple as cuddling under a blanket to a frolic out on the town. We must have radiated love. People enjoyed being with us and having us around. And yes... there was a proper time for lovers.)

Arlene took a long time to turn me into a dancer. One if our favorite melodies:
El Chicano "Sabor A Mi"

From famed lovers to a famed cat

So far, the oldest known pet cat is the 9,500 year old one that was found buried in Cyprus. Of living cats, none is more famous than Morristown, Arizona's Tardar Sauce or Grumpy Cat. Grumpy Cat is a mixed bread, owned by Tabatha Bundesen. She (the cat) is the Official Spokescat of Friskies. In a new Friskies and PetSmart commercial Grumpy Cat meets Happiness. Happiness the dog. Now, the question is, will Grumpy Cat finally smile or continue to rake in the big bucks she is paid by Friskies.
Whatever Grumpy Cat's decision, this will put a smile on your face. "Happiness Finds Grumpy Cat"
(Greedy cat)

The Truth to Grandma Does Soccer

A man puts aside one reality in search of the truth

A soccer team puts aside one truth when faced with reality

The Truth (free form poem)

Closing the door to all that he knew
He hoped to find path to himself
The truth to that face in the mirror
The answer to voice which he hears
-
Stepping away from places once warm
The world took of a different hue
From the one which so often was told about
From the one which many touted about
-
At last he was free to use his own eyes
To see things as they really were
Far apart from others point of view
Far apart the visions which danced in that mind
-
But there in the midst of his glory
As sun kissing distance such beauty made
Mingle with the path he had hoped for
Was a truth which he couldn’t undo

(Did you notice the first words in lines three and four, of the first three stanzas, were the same? This repetition becomes more pronounced. In the fourth stanza, even though our hero says."...truth which he couldn’t undo", things change (or are lost). - I have confronted my mirror many times, as I went through the changes in my life.  I learned about the mirror while working with Devo E. Harris, in my spiritual days. Devo and I attracted many followers. One was a wealthy gentleman, who financed our public lectures. The "mirror" was just an expression for stepping back and taking an open and honest look at our self. This is were we start.)

To go with this concept, I ran across this video: Bassnectar "Butterfly"

Let's toy with another truth

Multi-colored balls were not used in soccer matches until 1998. I remember that. I was a youth soccer coach at that time. In my third year I started to coach mixed teams. I noticed that the girls played just as well as the boys. I was granted permission to play my "mixed" teams against all boy teams, as long as our scores were competitive. I still wonder if men and women (mixed teams) couldn't join and play professionally. I guess the team at Max Man.TV were thinking the same thing. They got the aid of Raquel Benetti and Alice Fougeray, two soccer greats, to help further our point.
Enjoy the video and take in the information contained and maybe you too may join the team. "Grandma Does Soccer Tricks - Maxmantv"

Mist to Drive Thru Robot Driver

What was the madness in the mist

What was the madness at the drive thru

Mist (Shakespearean sonnet)

The moon was full the sea was calm that night
And somewhere in an old familiar mist
Whose mystery helped heighten mere delight
A couple met their moment as they kissed
-
They held her close and searched within her eyes
For something that was lost so long ago
She felt the other lover in disguise
Another time and place she used to know
-
They whispered words of love into her ear
But one was false the other still rang true
Within the mist her heart could see quite clear
She wondered what a kiss right now could do
-
And so they kissed until the ebb of dawn
But when the mist had cleared the girl had gone

(Here is sonnet full of mystery. What is the meaning of "They"? What is the girl's relationship to the mist? Read it again and the sonnet becomes clearer, Why? - Arlene's and my first apartment was on Twin Peaks overlooking San Francisco and the bay. One of the peaks cut the fog, so from our balcony, we could enjoy the show; especially at night  We would move several times and never again have the view we basked in at that apartment. Small wonder the mist covered nights were special to us. In our hearts we relived those moments over and over. Add the kisses... I'm quite sure those moments on that balcony were not what they became and are now. On the nights when the heavy fog rolls in, I enjoy walking with Arlene. Even though she is gone.)

Let us dance in this mystery: Manuel de Falla "El Amor Brujo. Danza del Fuego Fatuo"

From the mist to the drive thru

The idea of drive-thru was pioneered in the United States in the 1930s by Jordan Martin and was first used at the Grand National Bank of St. Louis, Missouri. A far cry (or laugh) from Rahat Hossain, of MagicofRahat, and his artificial intelligent robot. Rahat is a magician and prankster, who I think makes his home at drive thrus. This time he has modified his car to make it look like a hungry robot is driving.
Ever wonder why there is such a big turb-around at fast foods? Well, watch this. "Drive Thru Robot Driver Prank"

Sorrow Of A Sigh to funny version of "Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation"

One man trades success for his fairytales

A fairytale is brought back to lighten up a tried and true

Sorrow Of A Sigh (villanelle)

He thought he heard the sorrow of a sigh
When challenge of adulthood struck his face
The day he wished the fairytales goodbye
-
The road to his success he would apply
All other roads from this he would displace
He thought he heard the sorrow of a sigh
-
The hours of work the limits he would try
So much this man’s compulsion would erase
The day he wished the fairytales goodbye
-
His feeling paid for things which went awry
Till from the emptiness which filled the space
He thought he heard the sorrow of a sigh
-
At last he climbed his mountain to a sky
Where cloud of sweat have hidden every trace
The day he wished the fairytales goodbye
-
Now in his castle lifeless doomed to lie
There from a window filled with moonlit grace
He thought he heard the sorrow of a sigh
The day he wished the fairytales goodbye

(I used the villanelle form to tell the story of a man who made a major sacrifice for a "success". Note how the same words can change, depending on the context. -. Like the man in this poem, I am given to, all encompassing, compulsions. Fortunately, something happens to put an end to an episode. One of these episodes was my adventure into photography. It seems I was gifted with a natural eye.  With the aid of a dance/modeling studio, my friends the hair stylists and the great pictures I took, business kept increasing. All this was happening while I was working for Chevron. I used the money, I made, to buy more and better photo equipment. I gave Arlene a share for her help. So in the end, I made no extra money. As time went on my compulsion took control. Every spare moment was given to the models and photography. The only reason I saw Arlene was she was helping me. Unlike the poem, I didn't see what was happening. Though I enjoyed the constant parade of beautiful women in my house, my compulsion kept everything professional. Arlene's self confidence began to wane, plus she might have felt ignored. She told me,  that the photography had to stop. And just like that, Arlene saved me.)

If you haven't seen the movie, Here's the music: Sam Lee "Citizen Kane"

Now to the less serious

Mission: Impossible was a television series (1966 to 1973) that was created and initially produced by Bruce Geller about secret government agents known as the Impossible Missions Force (IMF). Now it is a movie, "Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation", starring Tom Cruise. Todd Spence went one step further. Todd is a Los Angeles based  illustrator and painter. He has also found a niche making YouTube videos. Todd is also a Chris Farley fan. Since they are trying to resurrect the IMF, why not resurrect Chris Farley and why not put the two together?
Is Todd successful or did he run into a Mission Impossible?  "Chris Farley in 'Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation'"

In Dreams She Comes to Scary Flying Ghost

How will a lover answer the call of dream

How will people respond to a scary flying ghost

In Dreams She Comes (poem)

In dreams she comes to me
A broken memory
Of things not meant to be
Another world apart
-
She whispers come along
A chorus of a song
Whose hold on me seems strong
Amid an empty sleep
-
Her image I can’t place
A mist does veil her face
Yet still I feel a trace
Of what she was to me
-
A kiss mid summer’s trees
The fantasies she frees
A world a time to please
Oh tell me once again
-
And still I hear her call
As reason starts to fall
What lies behind this wall
Which keeps me from her side
-
My passions there she holds
My destiny she molds
As what was real unfolds
Within this realm she roams
-
Then suddenly a knife
Appears to end this strife
If I would pledge my life
To dream for evermore
-
I took it and I prayed
To whom my soul pervade
As my heart felt the blade
And I greeted morning

(Here is a unique poem. The fourth line breaks the stanza's rhyme scheme. The first stanza contains the key, "Another world apart". The dream goes on until a strange request is made of the lover. As the poem concludes, it is up to you to piece together the ending (or beginning). - My life was full of the unexpected. Let me share one example. When my son, Peter, was in the 4th grade, he wanted to play soccer. We joined the Viking League, but after the first season the parents were unhappy with the coach. Arlene and another parent took up the position, to keep the team together. There was only one challenge. Though Arlene was great at many sports, she had no experience playing soccer. I had, and so as Arlene and the other parent were the coaches on paper and I coached the kids. It gets better. About halfway through the season, the parents began discussing how their children's school grades were improving. Fact or not, the parents attributed the improvement to Arlene and me. So began our thirteen year coaching legacy.)

To go with the poem, I've selected: Flying Eyes "She Comes To Me"

From a dream to a prank

Some people think that spirits are more active at night because electronic disturbances are less likely to interfere with their energy. So if I read this right, cell-phones are bad for ghosts. As is Yousef Saleh Erakat, of Fousey Tube. Yousef is a Los Angeles based  entertainer and motivational speaker who produces parodies, vlogs, comedy sketches and pranks on YouTube. Armed with a long black robe, a mask and a hover board-type of scooter, he wants to provoke some reactions from some unsuspecting victims.
What we are about to see is funny and an eye opener. "SCARY FLYING GHOST PRANK!!"
(What I found impressive about Yousef's video is that he didn't cut the people who didn't run from the "scary ghost". We are constant shown people running from fear. It is refreshing to see the truth. )
