The Voice to How to Defend Yourself Against a Pit Bull Owners

There is one voice that fills our heart with joy

There are barks that fill our world with fear

The Voice (Shakespearean sonnet)

Across soft fields I hear it calling me
A tender voice sings welcome to my heart
A sheltered comfort promise to impart
A wish a dream a safer place to be
-
This all I know is drifting towards its sway
This scent of something sacred meant last
This place where future kisses are all cast
This space this time this season meant to stay
-
For now I must brush fantasies aside
For starker world still waits to see my smile
For this became my meaning for this while
For hope for aid for comfort from the tide
-
And still my soul with voice now yearns to roam
And she and dreams and memories are home

(I was a bit haunting with love sonnet. To imitate this soul's obsession each line of each stanza and the rhyming couplet begin with the same word (forgive my poetic license with "Across"). - When Arlene got sick and was hospitalized she was working on a major project. It was very important to her. She fell ill miles from San Francisco, so she was placed in an emergency ward far away. So there I was, my wife was in a far off hospital with a project she had worked and invested in for months here. What was I to do? At first thought, a husband should be with his wife. I called the hospital who said Arlene's mother was there and it would be many hours before Arlene regained conscientiousness. Could anyone else take Arlene's place on her project? I was faced with my worst nightmare. There was no one else. It was now all up to me. In my dilemma a voice came. If I was to prove my devotion to Arlene, I must see to her dream. So as my friends and her family were by her side, I saw to the fruition of her dream. It was hard, but I had a voice to keep me going. As it turned out, it was my focus on that project that helped Arlene recover. After two days, and the project a success, I was finally able to get a hotel room near the hospital. Yes... it might have been the stress of the project that made Arlene sick.)

A song for the voice: Selena "Tu Solo Tu"

Afraid of Pit Bulls? It gets worse

The most decorated dog of World War I was a Pit Bull named Sergeant Stubby. In between his 17 battles on the Western Front, the legendary pooch helped comfort wounded soldiers. If you're still afraid of Pit Bulls, you might be be very misguided. According to Above Average, it may be the Pit Bull owners we should be more concerned about. But fear not. Above Average has put together a brief instructional video for your safety in dealing with Pit Bull owners.
Yes, that is Vinny Guadagnino, of Jersey Shore, starring in this video. "How to Defend Yourself Against a Pit Bull Owner Attack (ft Vinny Guadagnino)"
(Note: No Pit Bull owner was harmed in the making of this video.)

Lonely Tears By Candlelight to When You’re Bad At Names

A lover reflects his loss by candlelight

All the candlelight in the world will not improve this fellow's name recollection

Lonely Tears By Candlelight (repeating poem)

Another dream I held too tight
Has managed to slip out of sight
And so I spend another night
With lonely tears by candlelight
-
Here was a kiss I’d come to know
Amid this world she came to grow
And as she did she brought a glow
To one who stared into a plight
With lonely tears by candlelight
-
Each step I took she danced along
With every mood a special song
Amid such right what could go wrong
Those moments made we would prolong
We never had to share delight
With lonely tears by candlelight
-
My shadow formed another stream
Another pool another dream
At first it earned your gracious gleam
Until I made it so supreme
And blessed it with a sacred team
As she hid somewhere out of sight
With lonely tears by candlelight
-
And on I ranted day by bay
A child who had to get his way
She’s now a puppet for my play
Do every little thing I say
There in the mirror my dismay
Too late for she had gone away
-
Another dream slipped out of sight
I should have learned to hold her right
And so I spend another night
With lonely tears by candlelight

(Here, I established the last two lines: especially, "With lonely tears by candlelight." With each new stanza I increased the counter-rhyme by one line.  Near the end, the "established lines' were omitted. This was done to mirror the speaker's silence as he returns to his initial frame of mind. - I come from an era when the man typically dominated the relationship and the relationship of many of my friends suffered. This is where the poem comes from. Early in Arlene and my relationship, I picked up on some valuable insights. Arlene could dance. I couldn't. Arlene was much better at playing the piano than I was and could more fluently play the songs I wrote. These are simple thoughts, but I was a young man when my eye began to see. Arlene and I had a lot in common, but we were different. By celebrating all that we were, Arlene and I became much more. Perhaps it is just my imagination, but a female whose mate allots her freedom to be herself, radiates beauty. Regardless, I have the shadow of this poem to keep me in the light of my love.)

This calls for a mixture of sadness and beauty: Jerry Goldsmith "Chinatown Love Theme"

Let;s lighten the mood

Some believe knowledge simply gets "misplaced" and the key to good memory is to figure out how to dig it out. But the latest research seems to show all knowledge is subject to gradual decay. Even your own name is vulnerable. It is only a matter of probability. Boy, that is deep. Let's just stick to names. Some of us have problems remembering people's names. Some of us, like me. Well, the folks at BuzzFeedVideo doesn't want us to feel bad. They have found a guy who really takes the cake... or pie... or pizza.... or donut... or... Just watch the video.
Research also seems to show that ladies remember names better than men. "When You’re Bad At Names"

Star-fixed Eyes to ETS COOL Bus

The star-fixed eyes of lovers turn to tomorrow

The star-fixed eyes of a transit system turns to tomorrow

Star-fixed Eyes (changing poem)

So sure of all that what might be
A world of possibility
A haven where young hearts might flee
With star-fixed eyes they went to see
-
Their days a happy melody
Delighting in their company
They spent such moments holding tight
That wishes hid their destiny
-
Their passion masked reality
As daylight lingered into night
Another kiss another flight
Another satin memory
-
But then they paused to see the light
And questioned source of their delight
Was this the tale that they did write
Those lovers lost to mystery
-
So sure of all they had in sight
A world of everything is bright
A haven where all this is right
With star-fixed eyes a kiss goodnight

(Another poem that starts with one rhyme and ends with another. Also note how the line wording of the last stanza is very similar to the first. There is a world of meaning one can derive from this. - It is so "human" of me to remember the day, long ago, when Arlene and I moved in together. We truly "knew" we now had everything. We had finally arrived. Over time, life set in, in the form of bills and day to day living. Somehow we had changed. We were still young lovers. We made adjustments and went off, together to make our tomorrow. This happened several more times before Peter was born and we became parents. We had changed. Still, we were young lovers. Then there was caring for our child (then children), the change in lifestyle, school, balancing the days to meet those unexpected callings and the myriad of things parents go through. One day our children were matured and wanted to explore their own lives. Arlene and I had changed. Yet in our 40s, still considered ourselves young lovers with tomorrow waiting for us. We were not disappointed. Arlene and I enjoyed 7 unbelievable, dreamlike years. Yet we had changed. What made me so "human" through it all was: I never became that tomorrow of so long ago or so many restarts, yet there is still tomorrow.)

A fitting song for all of this: The Carpenters "For All We Know"

From lovers to something a bit more mundane

It is believed the omnibus was the first organized public transit system within a city. It appears to have originated in Paris, France, in 1662.  As far as excitement in public transit systems, we clearly have to turn our attention toward Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It seems the Edmonton Transit System (ETS) is unveiling a new fleet of buses. The new buses, said to be made in Denmark, and the ad are aimed to increase public use of the ETS. No one is sure who successful the transportation system will be in Edmonton, but the ad has gone viral worldwide.
Edmonton may not have the best buses, but based on YouTube views, they gave the best bus ad. "ETS COOL Bus - Full Length"

This Path to Driving Stereotypes

On one path dance lovers quite special

On another path are drivers we are all familiar with

This Path (Shakespearean sonnet)

Let’s dance down this path of dreams that come true
Where showers of flowers help guide our way
While mist laced with kisses help guide our play
Then whispers of wishes hint what to do
-
Let’s chance our own path where streams of light stray
Around every turn a world which is new
Where I may explore a world which is you
As heartbeats repeat one more special day
-
Dark clouds and shadows may cause us to slip
And ill-conceived lies may confuse our trip
And torrents of doubt may into us rip
Till hope’s tender tears our kisses will sip
-
Let’s dance down this path our gift from above
And show the whole world a couple in love

(Another light love sonnet. Those familiar with my style will recognize my playful use of sounds and words: like :...whispers of wishes hint what.." Also, I have been criticized for using "which" instead of "that". I am aware their definitions are somewhat different. I just like the softer flow of "which". - A teacher, Mr. Land put me on stage, so I gained a confidence in myself. During the same period, there was this girl, Gloria. She was much too beautiful to be interested in me. So I never made any advances toward her. I found out later, she felt the same about me. When I found out, I swore, never to let chances pass me by again. So Arlene got Mr. Land and Gloria. I knew she loved it. I often got a replay of our adventures from her friends. "You didn't really fly Arlene, to dance by riverboat down the Mississippi river!")

And then there was the dance: Kathryn McCormick and Ryan Di Lello dancing
Sergio Mendes "Magalenha"

From the exciting to the mediocre

If one is a NASCAR fan then one knows, as of this edition, driver Kevin Harvick holds the lead in the standings. I wonder if he suffers any of the stereotypical driver behavior put together by the team of Dude Perfect. Dude Perfect is a, Texas A&M University, sports and comedy entertainment group comprised of Coby and Cory Cotton, Garrett Hilbert, Cody Jones, and Tyler Toney. Normally basketball fanatics, the team noticed, while driving to a game, they engaged in driving behaviors that were oddly familiar. One thing led to another until this was created,
If that face looks familiar, that's because it is NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. "Driving Stereotypes ft. Dale Jr"

Watching to 9 Perks Of Being The Designated Driver

Some watchers are invasive and unwelcome

Some watchers are welcome and trusted (we hope)

Watching (repeating poem)

At our ease
Thoughts to please
Peace to seize
They’re watching
-
On the street
Things we greet
Home’s retreat
Watching
-
Words on phone
Moans and groans
All we own
Watching
-
Madness and sadness
Pervades through our life
Meeting our needs
Telling us what we want
Watching
-
Thoughts in head
Might have said
Jokes we spread
They’re watching
-
Viewing show
Mindless flow
Letting go
Watching
Watching
-
Endless and hopeless
Prying ears and eyes
Promising safety
As something else still dies
Watching
-
Lives they saved
Money’s knaves
To our graves
These depraved
Still watching
Watching

(There is a lot going on in this poem. It begins with a message stated in a strong beat and rhyme. Then something happens to disrupt the beat and rhyme. The original flow returns. The poem ends with two new structures. Why? - The eyes and ears that are watching us are challenges for another generation, I have done my part, in my time, for the things I care about.
Let me use my/this time to share something non-secret about freemasonry. (I am NOT trying to get anyone to join.) The lamb skin apron  may be one of the most important symbols of a mason. It is the badge or sign of a Mason. The lamb skin apron frees a mason from the expectations of any future awards or rewards, as he has already received the highest award “…that can be bestowed upon us, by king, prince, potentate or any other person”. Now, as a Mason, he is completely free to explore things that are truly important as individuals and to society, that “purity of intentions” not bound by the need for material wealth and fame. Whatever else comes is a “thank you” for believing in that cloth a mason wears. - Quite a difference between mysterious secrecy and mysterious openness.)

As far as the poem: 1984 Oceania Anthem "Oceania" (based on George Orwell book "1984")

I guess we could use a warm laugh

Balkan 176 is strongest known alcoholic beverage. It is a 176 proof vodka from the eastern part of Russia. Now, if we are out drinking Balkan 176 or something much (much, much, much...) lighter, it is a good idea to have a designated driver. Or be a designated driver yourself, to make sure your friends make it home safely. The folks at BuzzFeedVideo have found some additional reasons that might motivate us to not only laugh, but consider being a designated driver.
I have to bring this edition to a close. Just typing Balkan 176 is making my computer act weird. "9 Perks Of Being The Designated Driver"

In My Room to Men In Black Safety Defenders

Alone there is terror in my room

But thanks to the Men in Black there is safety in the air

In My Room (Shakespearean sonnet)

I feel its heartbeat there beyond the door
As here I lay imprisoned by my bed
With thoughts of fear now racing through my head
To shout he’s here the one you’re searching for
-
It’s then I hear the doorknob slowly turn
I cling to sheets for safety they provide
Another sleep a safer place to hide
A cloud of ifs my mind began to churn
-
Is that its footsteps now within my room
Or merely madness my mind has set free
Surprising how long time’s second can be
For coward who runs away from his doom
-
So thus I must face the cause of this strife
The last thing I saw was passing of…

(If Edgar Allen Poe had written a sonnet, it might resemble this one. Each stanza heightens and brings us closer to the conclusion. I end, by leaving the reader hanging, by leaving out the last word, This is a subtly sick way of leading a reader toward the worst. - The closest I've ever come to this was alone at a bus stop in the wrong area of the city. Brave or stupid, there I was in the middle of the night.  From out of nowhere, I felt something sharp at my throat. Then came the command, "Give us your money." While my head was being held, a teenager appeared to take what little cash I had. As the lights from the bus appeared, my assailants disappeared as if in thin air. I was in an open area and I didn't see them approaching or leave. Although I was a fencer and I was taking self defense at the time, with a sharp object at my throat, there was nothing I could do. Fear? I was in a world beyond that. As I took a seat on the bus, still in shock, a lady next to me said, "Your neck is bleeding,")

Some scary music, please: John Carpenter "Halloween"

We made it to safety

According to Euronews, although there were 112 plane crashes resulted in 1,320 deaths in 2014, airlines, by far, remain the safest mode of transportation. Air New Zealand, who rates 6th in the quest for passenger safety (so far in 2015), is vying for the number 1 spot, held by Cathay Pacific Airways. Keeping passenger interests during the safety instructions has been one of Air New Zealand's strategies toward success. With this in mind they went to Sony Pictures to create an informative, entertaining and memorable new safety video.
REMINDER - This is an airline safety video, but enjoy anyway. "Men In Black Safety Defenders #AirNZSafetyVideo"
