Gem Of Precious Promises to World's Best Magic Trick?
A person is raised by love's magic spell
People fall victim to prankster's magic trick

Gem Of Precious Promises (English sonnet)

What is this gem which echoes morning’s light
And seasons every scent both far any wide
Enchantment wonder splendor wouldn’t subside
As long as ever holds this gift in sight
-
Such streams of beauty has this heaven’s guide
One ponders pleasures fantasies ignite
What world of dreams is waiting there in sight
What magic is there waiting to be tried
-
Are eyes oft blinded playing trick on me
Has my imagination crafted mist
Is sleep now granting fairy tales come true
-
Still there is glow as bright as all can be
My heart and soul feels call they can’t resist
For gem of precious promises is you

When one thinks of sonnets, one tends to turn to Shakespearean sonnet. This style, or English sonnets were popular forms too. I guess they didn't quite have the staying power as their Shakespearean cousins. In this sonnet a lover questions reality in the form of a precious "gem". The word "what" leads him into the conflict triplet, before the final resolution.

Here is something to celebrate. Have we ever stopped to wonder if that someone special in our life is really all we make of them? I know, except for writing this, I don't. My wife is beautiful. But is she really? Or has love changed my perspective? I'm sure, we have all heard of people who love someone so much that their sense of reality is distorted. Have we ever tried to tell a teenager, the object of their affection was no good? Not only can love distort our vision, it can make us more forgiving or add things that may not be there. Yet my wife is beautiful. I look at pictures of our courting days and it seems that she has gotten better looking. Can anyone else relate, or am I just getting old? Here is one thing more to ponder. Have we ever noticed that couples really in love seem to glow? Could it be that our feelings toward a person makes them so much more? And while we lose ourselves in this wonder, enjoy.

Here is a dance to dream to: Leona Lewis "The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face"

We move from the magic of love to the magic of laughter

The most dangerous trick in magic is the Bullet Catch. This effect, in which a marked bullet is fired at the performer who catches it between his teeth, has killed twelve magicians and wounded many more. The magic trick by the folks at The Chaizy Channel has little to do with magic. Unless we consider making us laugh magic What makes this the "World's Best Magic Trick" at all, is the fact that they successfully tricked anyone to participate.
"Now you see it." Now you laugh. "WORLD'S BEST MAGIC TRICK"

The beauty of a woman must be seen
from in her eyes, because that is the doorway
to her heart, the place where love resides.

  1. It is not that I think my love is perfect, I just prefer his faults to other people's virtues....
And love most certainly does change the way we look at things. Blind? Perhaps. Or perhaps it sees the heart of the matter rather than the exterior.

  2. Once more you inspire me to think on the nature of love. I do think it changes our perspectives, but it's great to see people through love filtered glasses! Wonderful poem Martin.

  3. I think love grows. Our looks change but love only sees the inside where the real beauty of a person is. Love knows the heart. Feels the heart. When couples feel and see that, then they do glow and love grows more.
