It's Beating to Kitchen Hacks
Time is captured in the heartbeats of lovers
Time saving ideas for the kitchen

It’s Beating (progressive poem)

It’s beating
It’s beating
-
Occasion repeating
A gaze then a meeting
It’s beating
It’s beating
-
His mind is unseating
As she waits his greeting
A scent in the air
Entrances this pair
It’s beating
It’s beating
-
He feel his chance fleeting
A thought she’s repeating
He’s caught in her stare
As words meet the air
Then there in their eyes
They both realize
It’s beating
It’s beating
-
Soft thoughts now entreating
This shared wish completing
That all future’s fare
Be found in their stare
But could she surmise
This wish in his eyes
And as time had planned
So she took his hand
It’s beating
It’s beating

It's beating. But what is beating? As the poem progresses two more rhyming lines are added. Also notice the poem's rhythm. The poem could have gone on, but why did it end as as she took his hand. Notice that time was introduced as "it" continued beating as the poem concludes. So what was it that was beating?

You guessed it. I'm on my rant about time again (with this poem). As I suggested "It's beating" represents more. Let's take "It's beating" to means heartbeat. As the poem progresses more is happening on two heartbeats. Have we ever been on the steps of romance and lost track of time. I'm guessing the answer is yes. I know, if I want time to go a little slower, all I have to do is hug my wife. Is time really going slower or am I more focused?
Here is another point to consider. What is really important right now? Whether it is football on TV or a lover's kiss, give the attention it deserves. You should know that studies have shown that real life activities (as opposed to TVs, computers and such) are more enriching. What I am suggesting is thing seem to move slower the more active we are. Or maybe time is like a bag. We can put one item in it or we can stuff it.
Here is one more thing to baffle the imagination. Time is not constant. Science has shown that it actually slows down the closer it gets to the center of the earth. Objects moving at different speeds are also traveling in different times. Could other factors also affect time? Some individuals say live is too short. I have lived a long life. And I am not alone. So what is "it" that is beating? We may not fully know how to express it, yet we know it. We feel it. It is part of the marvel that is us. And as all things are controlled by "it", this one is controlled by you so enjoy.

Looking for ways to save time in the kitchen - Consider eating out

It is estimated that 87% American households own a melon baller, an avocado slicer or herb scissors, that we simply had to have, but never actually use. Talk about total wastes, here's Gregg. of You Suck At Cooking, to share some time saving ideas we can use in our kitchen. Gregg calls them his kitchen hacks.
Be the first to say one of Gregg's ideas actually saved time - if we can stop laughing. "Kitchen Hacks - You Suck at Cooking (episode 37)"

The Cause to Captain America A Civil War (weird trailer)
A hero wonders for a reason for a cause
A hero wonders how he ever got into this movie trailer

The Cause (Italian sonnet)

Who will take care of me if I should fall
To venture forth to raise me from the ground
Whose will shall have resolve to meet the call
To prove with life there’s something more profound
-
A hero for their cause so make them proud
All eyes and lives attend your every move
They would have done the same had “It” allowed
Or better had their character approved
-
What schools of fools have lead our brave astray
How many hopeful heroes have been burned
To what new nests are leaders borne today
And what new history must be relearned
-
If I should fall who will take care of me
And raise me to the sky just one more time
Allowing me to bask deservedly
To all that was accomplished in my prime

An Italian sonnet put together to make a mind wander. We follow the questioning of a hero who appears to have reached the ebb of his life. He appears to have accomplished something(s) with his life. He wonders who will continue his cause. As he continues, we wonder if he is talking only about himself. If this sonnet was successful, it touched upon something that we could relate to. If one started hearing "me". That is because "me" dominates the last stanza.

In my time, I accomplished a lot. Sure there were many who accomplished far more, but what I did was quite impressive. Now the poem could take me in many directions, but let me go here. I make no secret of it: I'm an egotist. Why shouldn't I be? I did some remarkable things. But I have two eyes. I saw the individuals. I saw into those souls who raised me up. Heroes, one and all. Let me explain. When I was a soccer coach, there was this one mom (let's call her Ann) who loved to party and had a real gift for gab. It was thanks to Ann so many parents hung around, brought snacks for the team and got involved. This became a custom of all my teams. Ann helped me become a legendary and sought out youth coach.
There was Dwayne. He was not well liked. I often wondered why he approached me to head his dream of bringing back the Marine Corp's Toy For Tots program back into Masonry. There was Mary, who helped me start up a women's program while the men where in Lodge meetings. Boy, if this didn't raise attendance. There was a certain high school principle, who would trick me into attending meetings to help her improve the school, by talking to people.
The point is, this egotist began to see, to appreciate there was greatness, a hero in all of us. Maybe not a president or a movie star, but what is the true measure of a "hero"? As I learned to listen, I gained a wonderful insight into others. Individuals would tell me of the things they admire about me, to which I would point out things about that person which was remarkable. (We are all admirable.) Many cannot see their own blessings. There is greatness in all of us. We may not be a Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie. That's one way of looking at it. They aren't us either. How good would they do playing us? There is only one marvel that is you. Share that star with others and enjoy.

Now that we got that straight, here's: Josh Groban "You Raise Me Up"

There are real heroes and fictional ones

Captain America is a fictional superhero created by cartoonists Joe Simon and Jack Kirby and first appeared in Marvel Comics' American comic books in March 1941. Captain America is starring in a new movie. Oddly I was not able to get the trailer for the new movie. I contacted my friend Aldo Jones to see if he could help us. Aldo sent me this.
By the looks of this trailer, the new movie looks pretty good. "CAPTAIN AMERICA CIVIL WAR Weird Trailer by ALDO JONES ( English Version )"

Dreams Across The Sky to How to be a Classical Musician
One man yearns to learn how to show his love
One man yearns to learn how to be a classical musician

Dreams Across The Sky (Shakespearean sonnet)

And if I cast my dreams across the sky
So every mountain dawns reality
To echo to sweet flowers what they see
A passing breeze will carry their reply
-
Or if I change the color of the moon
So all the magic hidden in the night
Brings fantasies that dance concealed to light
The wishes people put away too soon
-
Perhaps I’ll teach a rainbow how to sing
Each melody a hue upon a heart
What wonders will these shades of Joy impart
To help a soul that wanders winter’s spring
-
Please ease my heart and tell me what to do
To dedicate the love I have for you

A Shakespearean sonnet or song of a lovesick lover. Each quatrain paints a wild (but romantic) image. Each is possible only through the eyes of  a lover. (And somehow we see it too.) Now here is the real quandary of this sonnet. When we reach the rhyming couplet, we think we have reached the point of the poem. But if we think about it, isn't the rhyming couplet as much of a dream as the images drawn up in the quatrains?

I admit it. I'm a lovesick lover. If you have read some of previous editions, you may have come across some of my wild expressions of love. Here is another one. I had a friends who sold a restaurant he owned. The person who bought it didn't do so well, so my friend bought the restaurant back at a profit. My friend decided to use some of the money he made to remodel. Here's where I come in. My friend couldn't open for business until all the inspections were completed. My friend, a brother mason, owed me a big favor (in his mind), so he offered to open his restaurant to just Arlene and me (until the inspections were completed). I'm from the school that believes Valentines is not limited to February 14. I surprised Arlene with Valentines  a couple times a year. So guess where I took Arlene for Valentines one night in September? We had a restaurant all to ourselves.
Whew, that took more than expected. I think I missed the point I was trying to make. It is unclear all that love encompasses. Rather than trying to question it or analyze it, I'm suggesting to go with it. Believe it or not, even simple things like telling your partner how good looking they are or an unexpected kiss or hug helps put some meaning to love. Love is such an important part of life that life may open up an opportunity or two for us to express our love. Don't let these treasure slip by, no matter how unbelievable or how seemingly small. There is no "small" when it comes to love. And dreams... What are they, really? Arlene and I had a whole restaurant to ourselves. But what did it matter when I gazed into her eyes? Accept this blessing of love that life has given us. Revel in it. Dream with it. Rejoice in each heartbeat. And with each passing moment, enjoy.

Okay, you lovers: Forever Gentlemen "Fly Me To The Moon"

Thinking of taking up classical music to enhance romance

Most people agree, the violin is the hardest instrument to learn how to play. That's not surprising. What is surprising is the French horn comes in as the second hardest to learn instrument on many poles. There are many more instruments available for those thinking about becoming a classical musician. IFHT and CBC Music have put together some easy to follow step for those interested in switching from a successful career as a McDonald's clerk to a classical musician.
No, the Beatles are not classical music (yet). "How to be a Classical Musician"

Doors to 'Lincoln' the Kung Fu Movie (Trailer)
As we age some doors close and new doors open
One of those new doors is Abraham Lincoln as a Kung Fu movie

Doors (English sonnet)

So many doors are closing now to me
The places that I loved to fondly go
These sources of another’s memory
Devoured by an unknown afterglow
-
Those once so pleasant refrains now reap pain
Each lane now echoes of a seasoned past
A past not even reason would sustain
A past enhanced beyond its need to last
-
And so I sift through riddles of my mind
To grasp at reasons that has brought me here
Into a season which became so strange
-
I find it’s time to leave my past behind
And gaze into the future without fear
To open doors that herald in a change

An English sonnet that reaps in subtle word play. Starting with the second stanza, one might notice a hint of rhymes within rhymes (like "refrain" and "pain" in line 1, second stanza). This was done as an echo effect. The memories of the closed doors.

An idea, a concept, a feeling we are all familiar with. As we travel down life's road some doors behind us close. Doors of our younger days. Doors of things we used to do. Doors of opportunities. Doors of things left undone. Doors of "I wish I would have". (We can fill up doors with doors.) Some doors close to a bitterness of a past. Some doors to treasures. Some doors to "it really doesn't matter".  There is an air of sadness for those things we can never do, never experience again. But there ahead are new doors. Doors waiting for us. Doors familiar. Doors to something new. One thing is certain. One thing we humans are denied. We cannot stay "here".  So as we proceed forward take joy in the treasure that is you. Would there be those doors, if not for you? So as we open that next door... enjoy.

To go with the poem: Glen Campbell "Yesterday When I Was Young"

In today's world this could really happen

On April 14, 1865, Abraham Lincoln, America's 16th president, signed legislation creating the U.S. Secret Service. Hours later, he was shot at Ford’s Theater. Strange as this may seem , there is a rumor that there is a rumor there is a new movie about Abraham Lincoln in the works. According to the rumor, this new, rather violent, movie contains never before known secrets about this legend. Mashable Watercooler somehow was able to get their hands on the movie's trailer.
Rumor has it, Mashable Watercooler was responsible for starting the rumor. "'Lincoln' as a Kung Fu Movie | Trailer Mix"

Life is divided into three terms -
that which was, which is, and which will be.
Let us learn from the past to profit
by the present, and from the present,
to live better in the future.
William Wordsworth

Another Day to Nerf Team Fortress
Another day in his hidden garden
But first he must battle his way through a Nerf fortress

Another Day (lyrical poem)

Another day to be with her
Another day to kiss
Another day will find them there
Another day like this
-
Hidden garden unknown park
Where two lovers met to lark
There with flowers shared a spark
And forever left their mark
-
Another day might be the same
Another day dismiss
Another day a problem came
Another day like this
-
Hidden garden in their mind
For an answer hope to find
Some solution for their bind
For a world that’s so unkind
-
Another day take this away
Another day’s abyss
Another day to end dismay
Another day like this
-
Hidden garden which they found
Where dark secrets don’t abound
And no flowers make a sound
This became their sacred ground
-
Another day to be with her
Another day to kiss
Another day forever there
Another day like this

A lyrical poem of love. "Another day..." is the chorus. "Hidden garden..." marks out the verses. Here we have a couple who meet in bliss to overcome life's challenges and enjoy each other's company. One message this poem tries to drive home is a couple experiencing a special world together. This is why the words are so repetitious. The last chorus is the same as the first chorus, except for the third line. This is to signify growth.

I'm sure many of us have visited the "hidden garden". That special place where couples can get away to enjoy each other. That special place whether in our minds or tucked off somewhere, or maybe just floating in those precious eyes. Admittedly, it may be different for all of us, but we all have our "hidden garden". A place to escape. A place to refresh. A place to remember what is really important. And while we are there we have the power of something more. Life is filled with challenges. But here it must contend with so much more. For in the "hidden garden" is found not only love, but so, so, so much more. The "hidden garden" never disappears. It may or may not change. It is always waiting for us. We may know it by another name, another feeling, another heartbeat. I'm sure many of us have visited the "hidden garden". I'm sure many of us hear its calling. It's time for another "kiss". It's calling us back to enjoy.

This may help us return: Milton Schafer "She Touched Me"

We don't have to go through a Nerf fortress - but let's have some fun

Parker Brothers originally developed Nerf, a variety of foam-based balls and weaponry, beginning with a four-inch (102 mm) polyurethane foam ball in 1969. Chances are we have all had some form of Nerf product in our life. Nerf products have found their way everywhere, even into the workplace. Corridor Digital had a major problem with too many Nerf things showing up in their facilities. Being the creative people they are, they came up with a solution.
Make a video. "Nerf Team Fortress"

Love Song Addressed to You to Diego's Rap
An edition completely dedicated to
How not to write a love song

Love Song Addressed To You (lyrical poem)

Let’s try it one more time tonight
By moon or simply by street light
My heart will sing for your delight
When I can play this guitar right
-
It was for you I wrote this song
Reminder of a love that’s strong
A love like ours what could be wrong
I love it when you laugh along
-
All your neighbor’s say as they shout away
How they cannot wait for another date
So I stay and play hoping that this sway
Will not miss a date heading for its fate
-
We’ll drift upon a brighter cloud
Where I’ll remove unwanted shroud
I love you so I’ll air it proud
Your window shuts I sang too loud
-
All your neighbor’s shout put the fire out
But it wasn’t clear why it’s so wet here
Had they any doubt what true love’s about
From a single tear rivers can appear
-
Until we once again caress
Our love the heavens soon will bless
There’s something that I must confess
I’m singing at the wrong address
-
The wrong address
He did confess
Comes time to bless
Other neighbors

There are no rules that say lyrical poems have to be serious. In this mess, things start out normally and we are unsuspecting of the true nature of what is to come. It wasn't until our hero had trouble with his guitar that we suspected something was afoot. Before we laugh too hard (and I do hope this poem made us laugh), there is a level if truth in this silliness. God bless lovers.

I was a silly lover. That's a lie. I still am a silly lover. My silliness encompasses celebrations, gift giving and never growing up. Celebrations are everything from a kiss to a grand night out. One of many crazy stunts I pulled off: I had a big night at the opera planned, including dinner. What Arlene didn't know was that I got a Wonder Bread truck for the evening. Another example. Arlene was not fond of flowers. Instead I got  her candy disguised as flowers. Sometimes I had to hide these candy flowers. (Maybe we can figure this one out.) I don't know how, but Arlene could always find my hiding places. She would sample a few of the flowers. Before I could utter a word of complaint, Arlene would kiss me. I'm a sucker for a kiss. Serenade Arlene in the street? I did. Often.
I am a bit silly. I'm not suggesting we all should be. There are many ways to express our "love sickness". That's right, I called it "love sickness"/ Call it what we want, but it is hard to put a handle on it. Why do we fall in love? Does it matter? Just give into it. Whether silly or with flare, or a simple kiss. Give into it. Let your heart go. Love has so much to offer, What? we may ask. Let/s find out and enjoy.

Who knows more about love songs than: Weird Al Yankovic "You Don't Love Me Anymore"

Can we handle one more

I bet you didn't know, Mexico gave the rest of the world chocolate. Recently, Mexico gave the world Diego. Diego is a Mexican puppet created by Rudy Mancuso of Awkward Puppets. Okay, maybe Rudy and Diego are really from Los Angeles, California, but that is a small matter. Diego has recently come out with a new love rap single. It has already earned 4.90 Canadian.
Okay, maybe the song still needs a bit of work. "Diego's Rap"

Meaning In Eyes to Got Your Nose
A lover is captured in those eyes
While another captures a nose

Meaning In Eyes (poem)

So many memories are waiting there
Soft silken pedals from moments so rare
A pathway to dreams in each lingered stare
Are promises your eyes wonders to share
-
A sparkle past mist is welcome they air
A song to my heart a warm place to stray
These caverns of grace will sweep me away
With secrets so sweet to lay my soul bare
-
I‘m lost in their midst a mystic affair
Each kiss of surrender still burning bright
And here it seems time has ever to spare
As golden moments are each brought to light
-
I struggle with reason senses maintain
Was this our life or wishes left somewhere
Was there a future with hopes to compare
Or more season’s winds with happy refrains
-
So many memories were waiting there
Pure hopes of tomorrow and yesterday
In passionate stars where everything’s right
Lost meaning in eyes let lovers explain

There's more to this poem than meets the eye. In this poem a lover glorifies his delight's eyes. After the initial stanza new rhymes are introduced. The last stanza doesn't seem to rhyme. On closer inspection, each line rhymes with each of the proceeding stanzas. In other words, the last stanza is a synopsis of the rest of the poem, in meaning and rhyme.

Back in my photography days, my friend Valerie sent me most of my clients. Head shots were my forte. Valerie was a school friend of mine. She was a model, singer and dancer, She was the one who opened my eyes to he world of beauty. Maybe she was the reason I was so good at capturing facial beauty. Funny that a girl who I never even kissed would unlock the magic of and in a woman's eyes. And Arlene had great eyes.
Eyes, lips, faces, voices, personalities and so much more. Each of us carries an immense amount of beauty. We may not all be fashion models, but the realm of beauty encompasses so much more. If we try to compare ourselves with others we may get an unreal picture. Always keep in mind and heart that we are all individuals. A prize in itself. We all have two main challenges to overcome. One is the media telling, selling us what is beautiful, important and valued. Is the media to be trusted? Another challenge is us. We have been living with us our whole life. We have gotten used to the wonder that is us. I challenge you to make a list of all your attributes. I guarantee that you will be amazed before the list is completed. Life is beautiful. If my challenge was taken serious, we know one of the reasons why. Share the richness of you and enjoy.

A song for the poem: Peter Gabriel "In Your Eyes"

Hold on to your nose as we continue

Different people have different sneezing styles and these styles are genetically determined. In other words, the members of a given family will have similar sneezing styles. Do you remember that game our parents played with us when we were young or that we may have played with our children: "I got your nose"? Where did that whole thing come from? The folks at Trophy Husbands may have stumbled on a clue.
Now, if you believe this, I have a bridge for sale. "Got Your Nose"
