The Wife Who Waited to Furkids Kitty Kommercial
A wife waits for her husband to come home
Kittens wait to be taken home
The Wife Who Waited (English sonnet)
They sent him home with ribbons and parades
This man who wore such valor on his chest
And all her fears were finally at rest
The wife who waited by the window shades
She always knew he was the very best
A man whose plans left small time for charades
And his love for her it never fades
The wife who waited teardrops marred here breast
The flowers in the garden have all changed
The songs of birds seemed different last spring
The wife who waited watches husband roam
Now who will fix a dream set so estranged
And who can teach young hearts again to sing
The wife who waited for her love at home
The story of a faithful heart fills this English sonnet. As most English sonnets this one is divided into two parts. The first part describe the homecoming of a hero to his country and to her heart. The second part deals with a problem that arose. This sonnet uses an ostinato ("The wife who waited...") to drive home a message. Whether or not this sonnet has a happy ending is left up to the reader.
This sonnet was inspired by one of Arlene's friends. Like Arlene and I, Kim and Arnie were teenage lovers. They were very into one another. Arnie got drafted during the Vietnam War. Before he reported for duty, Kim and he got married. While he was away Kim was very faithful and wore her yellow ribbon with pride. When Arnie returned home, there were no parades. He was the excuse for numerous parties thrown by family and friends. He was highly decorated. When the parties ended, Kim realized a difference in Arnie. He began to see other women. She was heartbroken, but remain faithful. Many of her friends, who saw her pain. advised her to leave him. She didn't listen to them. She instead sought out the aid of a marital councilor. Then Kim and Arnie disappeared. Around Christmas time, we all received cards and phone calls from Kim and Arnie. They had moved away to get a fresh start. Their parent knew what happened to the couple, but played along with the mystery in hopes of the marriage. Kim and Arnie went on to have three children and Arnie returned to be a faithful partner.
What exactly happened to Kim and Arnie is unclear Why the problem arouse and how it was resolved is unknown. Kim was faithful to the end. This makes a great story, but life isn't always like that. Relationships are complicated. We are complicated. Throw change into the mix and oh boy. Find out why people become unfaithful (really) and the world will build a path to your door. Being unfaithful has many negative undertones, but not enough to keep it from happening, Staying faithful to someone who causes you pain is not healthy either. Then there may come a time to move on. So, what do we do? I'm not a relationship councilor. Neither are many of our friends. To make matters more complicated, what may work for one individual may not work for another. We are all different. Keeping all of this in mind, if your relationship is going along all bubbly, why not celebrate it with a kiss and Enjoy.
