A Different World to Thor: Pt. 2, Where Are They Now
A world without his love
A world living with Thor

A Different World (Shakespearean sonnet)

The rivers will flow up instead of down
The clouds will make a desert of the sky
The birds won’t sing they’ve lost the reason why
The flowers will all fall upon the ground
-
And children no more want to enjoy play
And poets have no need for one more verse
And no more lives for actors to rehearse
And there is nothing special for the day
-
This is the world without the sun or moon
This empty jar left drifting in some sea
This long lost soul that has no place to be
This place where hope in hearts were crassly hewn
-
I hope you see the value of my view
As crazy as the day I don’t love you

A world gone crazy is the subject of this Shakespearean sonnet. No one said a love sonnet has to be normal. There are more oddities going on. Don't we find it strange that a sonnet about oddities is so uniform that all the first words of each quatrain is the same? The third quatrain takes its leave of the norm except in form.

The last few years that Arlene and I were together were pretty unbelievable. We brought Hawaii to a bunch of widows. We had models swimming in a pool, behind a bar, for a group of old men. Now this one. Follow me on this one. I was a youth soccer coach for 13 years, My success was not in championship trophies. For some reason the kids on my teams did better at school. The parents credited me for this. I ran into a mom of one of the boys, from one of my early teams. She was very happy to see me and shared with me the successes of her son.

Let's turn the page. It was Arlene's birthday. I took her to a dress shop to pick out a present. We bumped into two of Arlene's friends at the store. It became funny as more of our friends showed up at the dress shop. It turned out, the mom had become a dress shop owner. To show her appreciation, for what she believed I had done for her son, we came up with an idea. Arlene had a birthday party in a dress shop. Not only could the ladies party, they could try on cloths. Yes, I did have to pay for Arlene's clothes as did all the husbands.

It is a crazy world that we live in. Crazy in wonder. There is so much out there, it is impossible for us to take it all in. The flowers, the trees, the waters. the buildings, the tastes, the sounds, all of it. Add to the endless wonder of it all, add the element of change. To add another layer of craziness to it all, we are all individuals. No two individuals take in the same thing exactly the same way. Even we cannot take in the same thing exactly the same way. A rock sitting on the table. How much could change in less than a second? Our thoughts (just as a starter).  Let's not even throw in the endlessness of imagination. Add to this craziness, there is so much that we take for granted. We have to. Or else it gets difficult to get from A to B. The more we take in, the more difficult things get. It is a wonder how much we can take in. Some learned people believe that we can take in so much more. More beauty, more marvel, more awe, more wonder and more. But let's start here. Here in our time. In our part of this crazy world. Take it in, be a part of it and Enjoy.

If that wasn't crazy enough

Thor is the Norse God of Thunder. The son of Odin and Jord, the earth goddess. Thor was the strongest of the Aesir, the collective name for the the principal race of Norse gods; they who lived in Asgard, and with the All-Father Odin, ruled the lives of mortal men. What does Thor do when he is not saving the wold? To give us some insight is Team Thor.
Take it away Team Thor. "Team Thor: Pt. 2, Where Are They Now?"

There is always some madness in love.
But there is also always some reason in madness.

  2. Yeah, we can't always take it all in or we'd never get anything done, but embracing the crazy sure is fun.

  12. Arlene had a birthday party in a dress shop.
Not only could the ladies party,
    they could try on cloths.

They would love it. Ladies and dresses were inseparable. The paying husbands might resent it for being made to take the tab.
